WHEAT

 

Boa – Quick-mid maturity AH wheat that stands out for top end yield in higher input areas and irrigated systems with a shorter erect canopy from a Scepter x Cobra cross. Useful Stripe rust (MRMS) and Leaf rust (MR) resistance with acid and boron tolerance.

Brumby – High yielding, APW, mid maturing, resistant to powdery mildew and excellent resistance to yellow leaf spot.

DALE – A new high yielding, adaptable main season AH wheat with excellent yield potential and stability across a range of environments. DALE provides a significant yield advantage of 7% over Sceptre.

Dozer CL+ – Quick mid maturing, APW CL wheat, good standability and grain package, IMI tolerant.

Genie – An exceptionally high yielding, mid-slow AH wheat and is an excellent alternative to RockStar in $>3\text{t/ha}$ yield environments. In these environments the variety offers medium-high rainfall growers a 1-2% yield improvement compared to RockStar.

LRPB Major – A new high yielding AH mid slow maturity with a flexible mid season sowing window, suitable for early to mid May seeding opportunities across SNSW/VIC/SA.

LRPB Matador – Matador is a mid-maturity AH wheat variety based on Scepter with a medium grain size, compact canopy, improved yield and Stripe Rust (MS) over Scepter.

Mowhawk – Mowhawk is APW variety ideally suited to early-break scenarios and higher production areas with its unique "Quick Winter" maturity controls delivering broad adaption.

Murray – A new high yielding, main season APW wheat with excellent yield potential, performing well across medium-high rainfall areas of Victoria and South Australia.

RGT Accroc – RGT Accroc is a slow maturity red winter wheat, feed grain quality. It is suited to the high-rainfall zone and for sowing late February to early April for early grazing. Very high yielding variety with good options for grazing and grain production.

RGT Calabro – RGT Calabro is a slow maturing, red feed grain, awned winter wheat. Well suited to the long growing seasons of the high-rainfall zone. It has a very high yield potential and performs well from sowing in late February to March with potential for early grazing.

RGT Cesario – RGT Cesario is a slow maturing red winter wheat. It is an awnless variety that has very high yield potential in high-rainfall zones of SA with a long growing season. Well suited to early grazing combined with the high yield make it a variety well suited to dual-purpose uses.

RGT Ponsford – RGT Ponsford is a mid maturity spring wheat with a grade of APW. It has a medium stature and moderate straw strength. Released in 2024 (tested as 16Q2H0055), bred and marketed by RAGT

RGT Waugh – RGT Waugh is an awned, slow maturity white winter wheat that is feed quality. Suited for medium to high-rainfall zones and production under irrigation. Suitable for dual-purpose applications when early sowing is possible.

Valiant CL+ – Later maturity than Cutlass, good varietal option to maximise early sowing opportunities. Good yellow leaf spot resistance. A useful variety option where there are residue concerns from previous season IMI herbicide use.

Vixen – A hard wheat similar in yield to Scepter, with a maturity 3-5 days earlier suited to mid-May sowing.

 

BARLEY

 

Malt

Commodus CL – Currently classified as a feed variety, earliest potential malt accreditation has a short rachilla hair length, reducing itchiness. Ideally suited to lighter soils and medium-low rainfall environments. CCN resistance and in 2023. High yielding, quid-mid maturing variety. Agronomically like Compass, malt accreditation in April 2024. Mid-maturing variety. Agronomically like RGT Planet. Received final Barley Australia.

Maximus CL – High yielding, quick-mid maturing, IMI tolerant barley

Neo CL – Exceptionally high yielding, InterGrain data indicates a 10% yield improvement over RGT Planet.

RGT Planet – RGT Planet is a mid maturing variety with malt accreditation. It has performed well in medium to high-rainfall zones. It sets a high number of grains per head and therefore is prone to lower test weights, small grain size and high screenings under suboptimal grain fill conditions. It has good head retention and straw strength, reducing yield losses due to lodging and head loss.

Spartacus CL – Spartacus CL is an early maturing, CCN resistant, Clearfield barley. It is a useful levels of spot form net blotch resistance.

Zena CL – A mid-maturing, vigorous, malt accredited Clearfield warrior. High yielding.

 

Potential Malt

Ember – Slow maturing spring feed barley with excellent yield potential, well suited to high rainfall zones. It is 7-10 days slower to mature than Neo CL and RGT Planet and suited for early sowing opportunities and to help manage frost risk.

RGT Atlantis – RGT Atlantis is a quick maturing variety with quality rating pending. Suited to medium to high-rainfall zones. Bred from RGT Planet and has the same plant structure and height with short rachilla hair length.

Soldier CL – Mid-slow maturing Clearfield barley with high yield potential, excellent lodging tolerance and head retention.

 

Feed

Combat – High yielding, mid maturing, feed barley.

Granite – A quick-mid Clearfield® feed barley, with an erect growth habit and medium plant height. Excellent yield potential, providing a yield improvement over Rosalind.

 

OATS

 

Archer – Mid maturing oaten hay variety, single gene IMI tolerant suitable for planting in the major hay growing regions of Australia. medium height variety, with good early vigour and hay colour retention.

Goldie – High-yielding milling oat suitable to all oat growing regions of Australia.

Kingbale – Kingbale is a single gene IMI tolerant oaten hay variety – a world first. Mid-maturing variety with improved tolerance to soil residual IMI herbicides.

Koala - This high-yielding, mid-to-long season milling oat is a tall-dwarf variety similar in height to Bannister but matures up to seven days later.

Minnie – A milling oat variety with a short-medium plant height, improving lodging tolerance and harvestability compared to taller varieties in high yielding situations. Mid-slow maturity, similar to Bannister.

CHICKPEAS

 

DESI-TYPE VARIETIES

CBA Captain – Medium-size-seed variety with broad adaptation to Victorian desi chickpea-growing areas. Erect plant type with good plant height and height to lowest pod. Mid-flowering and mid maturing in Victorian growing environments. Good grain size similar to PBA HatTrick and meets the requirements of a ‘Jimbour type’, suitable for the subcontinent market. Tested as CICA1521.

 

KABULI-TYPE VARIETIES

Genesis 090 – Genesis 090 is a high yielding small kabuli chickpea that has proved to be adapted to most chickpea growing areas of southern and western Australia. It is best suited to farming systems where crop topping or weed wiping of herbicide resistant ryegrass escapes is not required to prevent weed seed set.

Genisis Kalkee – Kalkee is a medium to large seeded kabuli chickpea that is a good replacement for GenesisTM114, and a larger seed size alternative to Almaz It has moderately improved ascochyta blight resistance over Almaz and offers a lower disease risk option, but a strategic fungicide strategy (2 -3 applications) similar to that used in Almaz will still be required.

PBA Magnus – large-seeded kabuli type with similar plant type to Genesis™ 090. Early-mid flowering and early-mid maturing. Adapted to current kabuli-growing regions of Victoria and South Australia. An excellent replacement for Genesis Kalkee where an erect plant type is not essential due to its larger seed size. Very good seed size and shape.

PBA Royal – Highest yielding medium sized Kabuli in mid-high ($>1.5\text{t/ha}$) yield potential environments and predominantly $8\text{mm}$ in grain size, which is larger than Gen090 but smaller than PBA Monarch.

 

LENTILS

 

ALB DANE (NEW) - A mid- to late-maturing red lentil, offering growers an improved early vigour, better stress resistance, high yield potential, and maintained herbicide tolerance like its predecessor, with improved tolerance to Group 2 herbicides.

GIA Colombo IMI (NEW) – GIA Colombo is now the IMI tolerant variety with the highest disease resistance. It is high yielding and suitable for early sowing. It has moderate-good tolerance to vegetative frost, mid maturity and suits the large red grain market.

GIA Leader IMI – GIA Leader is an IMI tolerant variety, with good levels of disease resistance and mid-late maturity, thus a good fit for medium to high rainfall regions and early sowing. It has uniform medium sized seed for traditional “Nugget” type markets.

GIA Lightning IMI – High yielding broadly adapted IMI tolerant red lentil, more reliable on lighter textured soils. It is mid maturing and has improved tolerance to salt and boron. It is suited to the small red lentil market.

GIA Metro MET + IMI – First and only Metribuzin (MET) + Imidazoline (IMI) tolerant red lentil variety. It has good tolerance to vegetative frost, mid-late maturity and suits the large red grain market.

GIA Thunder IMI – GIA Thunder is the highest yielding IMI herbicide tolerant lentil variety across Australia. It is a broadly adapted lentil with improved tolerance to vegetative frost, salt and boron over several other IMI lentil varieties. It is suited to the small red lentil market.

PBA Ace – PBA Ace is a vigorous, high yielding, ascochyta disease resistant, mid maturing conventional red lentil with medium sized grey seed.

PBA Bolt – PBA Bolt is an erect, early-mid maturing conventional red lentil with medium sized grey seed. PBA Bolt is suited to areas where earlier maturity, salinity and boron tolerance and erect growth are keys to reliable and profitable production.

PBA Hallmark XT – PBA Hallmark XT is a broadly adapted mid maturity herbicide tolerant variety. It has moderate-good early vigour and is a medium seed size red lentil.

PBA Highland XT – High yielding IMI herbicide tolerant lentil in short season environments or drier seasons. It has moderate-good early vigour, erect growth, early flowering and early-mid maturity. It is suited to the small red lentil market.

PBA Hurricane XT – An IMI tolerant small red lentil variety with mid flowering and mid-maturity.

PBA Jumbo 2 – PBA Jumbo2 is the highest yielding conventional lentil variety available in Australia, outperforming all other conventional varieties in medium-rainfall lentil growing regions. It is a broadly adapted large red variety with the highest rated disease resistance.

Terrier – Small market class red lentil. Improved resistance to Nipper and Hurricane XT virulent Ascochyta blight pathotypes. Same herbicide tolerances as predecessor PBA varieties. Good early vigour, mid flowering and maturity, improved boron tolerance (MI) and high resistance to root lesion nematodes (MR).

 

Green Lentils:

PBA Giant – High yielding large green lentil variety with improved yield over Boomer in Victoria (5-10% on average) and similar yield in South Australia. Improved shattering resistance compared to Boomer. Largest seed size Australian green lentil variety. Broadly adapted variety, best suited to medium rainfall lentil growing regions.

PBA Greenfield – PBA Greenfield is a medium-sized green lentil and is now the highest yielding green lentil variety available in Australia. Its yield is comparable with PBA Ace.
